RESPOND Project
PROJECT: Digital Archive
ROLE: Designer, programmer
The RESPOND Project was a six-year global project managed by EngenderHealth with funding from USAID. Its goal was to increase the use of family planning and reproductive health services across more than 20 countries.
I designed and programmed the RESPOND web site and extranet using the XML/XSL-based Cascade CMS. Then, at the end of the project, we collected, classified, and organized the materials produced by the project — hundreds of technical briefs, clinical resource, videos, etc. — into a Digital Archive that was distributed via CD-ROM. Although it was HTML-based, it was specifically designed to run offline, since many of its potential users were in corners of the world that lacked reliable Internet access. The CD version featured a JavaScript-based search engine.
I also worked on RESPOND’s flagship software product, Reality Check Version 3. And, although not shown here, I art directed the project’s logo, branding, and other materials.
