Thus, positive feedback feels like a personal win, and negative feedback gives me something to work on. <\/p><p>Shown here are a few of the positive quotes submitted anonymously by students through WSU&#8217;s official course feedback system. You can also see student comments at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ratemyprofessors.com\/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=2569045\">RateMyProfessor<\/a>.<\/p><p>In DTC, I have taught undergraduate students about graphic and web design:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Concepts such as color, typography, grids, user experience (UX), accessibility, responsive design, and more.<\/li><li>Software including the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.), WordPress, and IDEs such as Codeanywhere.<\/li><li>Coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.<\/li><li>Technical and legal issues around intellectual property, web hosting, file formats, printing issues, content management, and more.<\/li><li>History that influenced modern visual design, such as graphic user interfaces, Dadaism, art practices such as printmaking, the origins of the World Wide Web, the impact of Soviet film theory, and more.<\/li><\/ul><p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As an assistant professor in the Digital Technology and Culture (DTC) department at Washington State University (WSU), I encourage feedback from my students because my personal teaching goal is to be the kind of professor I wish I&#8217;d had in college.
