I'm Tor de Vries.
Welcome to class.
I’m a designer with years of industry experience and an MFA from Parsons. See my portfolio.
The Longer Bio:
I am an award-winning designer with significant, decades-long experience in print and digital design, as well as in communications, marketing, nonprofits, international health, higher education, and religious organizations. With substantial programming and IT experience, I am a unique blend of artistic, business, and technology disciplines.
For nearly 13 years, I was the Web Producer & Art Director at EngenderHealth, a leading international women’s health organization with offices around the world. Before that, I worked in corporate marketing and design for Fortune 500 companies and “dot-com” startups in New York City. I earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Design & Technology from Parsons School of Design, where I was an adjunct graphic design instructor in their undergraduate Communication Design program.
My portfolio has selections of my past work, both professional and personal.
Currently, I am a clinical assistant professor in the Digital Technology & Culture (DTC) program at Washington State University (WSU). The Daily Evergreen wrote a nice profile about me. My office is Avery 483, and my hours are Wednesday mornings, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., with other times and places available by appointment.
I also run the parenting Tumblr And I'm the Dad, which has been profiled by Mashable, PR Newswire, and Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, among others. I've gained over 13,000 followers on Tumblr since I started blogging years ago, but... you should ask me why that number is meaningless.
Contact me at WSU if you have questions or would like to schedule a time to meet.
